The Me 262 still has a strong hold on aviation enthusiasts. Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, the Schwalbe will fly again. Five exact replicas of the German jet are being hand-built at Herb Tischler's Texas Airplane Factory in Fort Worth. Fully flyable, the jets should be delivered to museums by 1996.
